Our story
baba baa began with a mother, a baby, and a song that wasn't there.
In 2014, our founder Lee Jiun was holding her newborn son, Hugo, surrounded by button song books — English, Japanese, Chinese. But the songs she'd grown up with, the Malay rhymes of home, were nowhere to be found.
Having lived overseas for more than a decade, she knew the feeling well: wanting to pass on a piece of home to a child growing up far from it. So she made the book that didn't exist — a sing-along of nursery rhymes from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, the tunes that raised us.
That little book grew into baba baa: a world of gentle characters — Baba, Sunny, Ami, and Tapo — made to help little ones learn, play, and grow, and to help families feel close, wherever home happens to be.
Because the smallest things — a song at bedtime, a rhyme in your mother tongue — make the biggest connections.
Our team
Meet the baba baa “team”: one mom, one laptop, two curious kids, and a whole lot of adventures.
Everything here — from the sound books to the printable worksheets — is dreamed up, tested, and loved right at home. No fancy office, just real-life learning, plenty of laughter, and the occasional tear (because that’s parenting, right?).
At baba baa, it’s not about being big — it’s about making a big difference.

Every child deserves to hear the songs of home — in their own languages, from their own corner of the world.
We believe the smallest daily moments — a lullaby, a shared rhyme, a story before sleep — are where connection actually happens. baba baa exists to make those moments a little easier, a little warmer, and a lot more yours.
baba baa started in 2014, when our founder went looking for a song book of the Malay nursery rhymes she grew up with — and couldn't find one. So she made it herself.
That first sing-along book grew into a whole little world: four characters who help children learn, play, and grow, and help families stay close to home, wherever they are. Little moments. Big connections.
